2006 Gibson Advanced Jumbo Luthiers Choice Adi/Madagascar
This 2006 Gibson Custom Shop Advanced Jumbo Luthier’s Choice is an absolute powerhouse, built during a celebrated Ren Ferguson era when Gibson’s top artisans paired premier tonewoods with historical specifications. The foundation of its massive projection is a premium Red Spruce top driving a stiff, highly responsive soundboard that thrives on headroom. The crown jewel of this build, however, is the highly figured, ultra-rare 1-piece Madagascar Rosewood back, historically favored for its tonal proximity to old-growth Brazilian. Combined with Gibson's wide-angled, forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing, this guitar produces an incredibly deep, clear, and articulate voice with the signature punchy midrange that defines the model. Having spent the last two decades opening up beautifully, it delivers a wonderfully broken-in, authentic vintage Gibson voice…it is, in every sense of the word, a cannon.
Structurally, this guitar is in excellent, rock-solid condition and has been meticulously cared for, showing only the natural signs of an instrument that has been played and loved. The only thing to note is a minor finish scrape on the lower bout bass side located within the dark perimeter of the sunburst, which has been neatly and professionally touched up. This is strictly cosmetic, entirely stable, and blends seamlessly into the dark gradient of the burst. If you are looking for a bluegrass powerhouse, an elite studio workhorse, or simply the true vintage AJ voice at a fraction of the cost of a pre-war original, this exceptional Luthier's Choice is the one.
