1942 Gibson LG-3
Mojo City Guitars is proud to offer one of the most historically significant Banner era Gibson acoustic guitars to surface in recent memory: a 1942 Gibson LG-3 bearing Factory Order Number 7082H from the very first LG-3 batch ever produced. The LG-3 is the rarest standard line model made during the wartime era, with only 130 instruments ever built. Beyond its incredible scarcity, this specific guitar holds a permanent place in lutherie literature as the exact instrument featured in John Thomas’s landmark book, Kalamazoo Gals, and still retains its original Parker’s Music shop sticker on the back of the headstock.
This historical centerpiece arrives in very good and remarkably original condition, exhibiting the dry, woody resonance and wide open projection that collectors and recording engineers demand from 1940s Kalamazoo instruments. It features the original finish, a couple of properly repaired cracks, excellent playability with low, comfortable action, and plenty of saddle height remaining for future adjustability. The sole component update is a meticulously crafted replica bridge that is virtually indistinguishable from a factory original. Whether for a high level collection or a world class studio, this LG-3 represents an unrepeatable opportunity to own a featured piece of Gibson history
