1963 Martin D-28
This 1963 Martin D-28 is an exceptional example of craftsmanship from the iconic old North Street factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Guitars from this early 60s era carry a magic all their own, routinely delivering a sweet, effortless vibe, an in the pocket voice, and an intuitive feel that makes them nearly impossible to put down. This particular D-28 is no exception to that observation. Acoustically, it is an absolute powerhouse, offering amazing projection alongside a thick, rich, and highly detailed tone that stays articulate and balanced whether flatpicked hard or played with a lighter touch.
To ensure optimal playability and structural integrity, this guitar recently received a neck reset and a to-spec replica bridge crafted by master luthier Nathaniel Wright. A few typical age-related cracks have been expertly addressed, with one side crack, two small back cracks, and one small top crack cleanly sealed and cleated. The pickguard has been replaced, and a single bridge pin was substituted. Beyond those precise bench services, everything else on the instrument, including the finish, remains original and in amazing shape, making this a dialled-in dreadnought ready, with no excuses. Comes with beautiful purple/burgandy interior early 60s Geib hardshell case.
