1948 Martin D-28

1948 Martin D-28

$15,500.00

A killer sounding taper braced thin top D-28 with the responsiveness, power, and clarity these late 40s Martins are known for. Open, resonant, and articulate with excellent balance, this is a standout example for recording.

This one family owned instrument, passed from father to son, presents beautifully and features an exceptional set of straight grain Brazilian rosewood. About five years ago it was sent to the Martin factory where all honest work was completed including a neck reset, refret, new ebony bridge, binding repairs, and replacement tuners. A maple reinforcement cleat was added under the pickguard area to address the common thin top pulling from pickguard shrinkage. Martin also applied a light clear overspray, with the original finish and its natural wear and checking clearly visible beneath.

Playability is excellent with comfortable action measuring approximately 2.5mm on the low E and 2.0mm on the high E at the 12th fret. Strong saddle height and break angle remain. A structurally sound, professionally maintained vintage D-28 that delivers where it matters most, tone.
