A true beauty both visually and sonically, this 1924 Martin 0-42 is an amazingly well-preserved example that needs nothing and is ready to play. It features a light build with delicate bracing paired with a comfortable, wide V-shaped neck profile that fits the hand effortlessly. Visually, the old-growth Brazilian rosewood back and sides display striking circular saw markings from the original mill cut, highlighting the deep history of the tonewood beneath its brilliant pearl trim. For added structural stability under modern steel strings while fully protecting the soundboard, the original bridge plate was replaced with a period-correct small tucked maple plate, crafted with a thickness similar to the next era of Martin design. The top remains flat with zero belly, and the overall condition is excellent, showing a very old thin protective overspray that has sunken in and aged beautifully while allowing the natural checking and authentic player wear to show through. Known around the shop simply as the princess, this stunning 0-42 delivers an unforgettable, shimmering tone that perfectly matches its extraordinary visual presence.
